                                   TOURNAMENT

The tournament is optional. You do not need to play in the tournament to earn a T-shirt. Players/teams who qualify for the tournament but will not play should contact their Group Coordinator by the last day of the regular season.

At the end of the regular season (end of August), the Group Coordinators provide tournament seeding recomendations to the FETA Organizer. The Organizer prepares the tournament charts and distributes them to participants as close to September 1 as possible. Play begins in early September and can continue into October, depending on the number of rounds needed. Each round of play (window) lasts approximately a week. Opponents contact each other to set up match time and location. Scores are reported to the Group Coordinators, who notify players of their next opponents.

FETA uses the tournament format with a main side and a consolation side. The loser of a match enters the consolation bracket to play others who have lost. The winner of the consolation bracket is awarded 3rd place.

                                     Tournament Rules

1)  Matches may be played before the beginning date of a window.

2)  A player/team that wishes to play after the ending date of a window must obtain the approval of:

a)  the opponent
b)  all other players in the bracket that might be affected by the change

c)  the Group Coordinator

3)  After each match is completed, both players/teams provide the results to the Group Coordinator. They then wait to get the names of their next opponents.

4)  If a match cannot be played due to scheduling conflicts, the player/team that was available to play first within the window will be advanced.

5)  If match results are not reported by the end of the window, or if the player/team to be advanced cannot otherwise be determined, the Group Coordinator may flip a coin to determine who advances.
